Progress made by APC Packaging Ltd on our Sustainability & Environmental Journey:
- 52no Solar Panels installed (22.62 kW Solar PV System).
- 10kWh battery system which allows storage of excess electricity generated and allows us to take from the grid at low electricity rate times.
- Install of a Smart Meter that provides accurate data profiles for our electricity use.
- Heating and electric plug controls installed throughout the factory that can be operated remotely. This includes our ability to set time of use for charging the forklift.
- Replacement of legacy fluorescent lighting with LED fittings throughout the factory.
- We engaged with our Local Enterprise Office in a Green for Business program which resulted in a Consultant Audit Report and the publishing of our annual Carbon Footprint under scope 1,2, & 3 through the Government standard Climate Toolkit 4 Business.
- We operate the bottle return scheme that allows us to recycle all our bottles and cans.
- Food segregation controls put in place to segregate from general waste.
- APC Packaging Ltd use an external Auditing Body (EcoVadis) to carry out annual score card measurement of our business sustainability ratings. We are also FSC® certified. FSC® Certificate Code SGSCH-COC-140010 & ISO 9001:2015 certified. APC Packaging Ltd are a member of Repak (# 6503).
- APC Packaging Ltd have engaged with our Local Enterprise Office and measured the Company’s carbon footprint (See Table 1 below). Based on our analysis of the data and a third party audit report, the company has created its future plans and objectives (see next highlighted section) in continuous pursuit of reduction in our carbon footprint.
Future Plans & Objectives:
- As each vehicle in the fleet approaches end of life, conduct a structured cost-benefit analysis comparing diesel, hybrid, and electric alternatives.
- Monitor our smart meter carbon reductions and use the figures to help create carbon reduction awareness.
- We always encourage existing customers and future customers to examine “just how recyclable their packaging materials really are”:
We ask purchasing teams and decision makers to review their packaging from a sustainable point of view especially as PPWR is now in force.
APC Packaging Ltd challenge people to look closely at our product offerings and FSC® sustainable solutions, pointing out that such actions will help with
Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations (PPWR) compliance and helps reduce their carbon footprint.
